The topic that I am most considering for my op-ed paper is whether or not BYU student-athletes should be paid. The op-ed piece will focus on the benefits of paying the student-athletes. This is an issue that is presently being debated throughout the country,with the general public consensus being that paying college football players is in the near future.

- I'm from a small town of 300 people in northern Alabama. After two semesters at BYU I served an LDS mission to Uruguay for two years. It was the most impactful years of my life. I returned to Utah in Feb 2009 and have worked throughout the country with Pinnacle Security. I have applied to the Jerusalem Center for Winter semester 2012 and will hear back within two weeks about if I am accepted. I am a Commerial Management Major at BYU and will graduate in 2013.
HOwever, how much I am obsessed with college sports. (more indeed than professional in most cases) I feel the college players have it good enough as is. I had a buddy on the football team and technically he went away with cash. This about it. a regular student has to pay for college, pay for books, pay to live somewhere, pay for cothes, for food. and to just do fun things on the weekday. my friend had all of these expenses paid for. He did not have to worry about anything when it came to money. I personally feel they are getting what they need. for college, and if they really want money from what they are good at, then they can go pro.
